We do more than “market the market.” Our initiatives connect Central Market to local agriculture and to Lancaster’s neighborhoods, enhancing the market’s role as a true community resource. By becoming a Friends of Central Market member, your voice will be heard on behalf of the market and its future. We promote informed decision-making through research, knowledge of “best practices” for public markets, education and outreach.

Why does a market need “friends”?
Central Market serves many roles in the greater Lancaster community. Like all public markets, it needs the perspectives of customers, standholders, businesses, local residents, and government officials in order to survive. The Friends of Central Market works with other organizations to ensure that the market continues meeting the needs of the local community.

You’ll receive email updates on Friends initiatives, market news, special events, and more. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in Friends membership and community events at Central Market.

What does my annual contribution support?
Your tax-deductible contribution to Friends of Central Market supports our mission to strengthen Central Market as the community’s primary center for locally produced foods. It also supports initiatives to preserve and maintain the integrity of the market’s historic architecture and site, ithelps pay for public education and outreach, and it funds research and advocacy for a sustainable farmers market that is owned and operated on behalf of all Lancaster citizens.
